CLEVELAND “TAKES STEPS TO FIGHT DIABETES”
CLEVELAND—Promenade, the 26th annual benefit for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland will feature a lively evening of dance competition between Cleveland notables paired with the area’s top dance professionals under the direction of Rebecca Sweet of Viva dance! This year’s fundraiser, “Take Steps to Fight Diabetes” will take place Saturday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites Cleveland-Rockside in Independence. Darrielle Snipes, WKYC Channel 3 Morning Reporter will serve as mistress of ceremonies.
Inspired by the smash hit television show “Dancing with the Stars,” Promenade will feature eight local talents from all over Cleveland and their professional dance partners, as they try to impress the evening’s judges, Kevin Joseph Kelly, Frank Leo and William Wymer with their favorite dance routines. The competitors include: Jenn Harcher, 19 Action News Storm Team Reporter; Tonia Kwiatkowski, World Figure Skater; Dominique Moceanu, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist for U.S. Women's Gymnastics; Jill Katzenberg, Life Coach and Trainer; Chris Van Vliet, WOIO “The Buzz”; Cyril Kleem, Mayor of Berea; Toney Owens, Television Personality and Fred Vander Peet, Finance Manager at Howard Hanna.
The evening also will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction followed by a sit-down dinner with showcase dancing entertainment by Rebecca Sweet and Heriberto Perez from Viva dance! Studio. The Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland will also recognize their 2010 Honorees.
All proceeds from Promenade will remain in Northeast Ohio to support education programs, free community services, local diabetes research, Camp Ho Mita Koda for children with diabetes and the Aronoff Library and Diabetes Resource Center.
